Habitat for Humanity of Crawford County, Kansas, founded in 2003, is a locally-run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Volunteers provide most of the labor. Individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses.
Our partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor — "sweat equity" — into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses in Crawford County.
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Habitat for Humanity partners with people in your community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. Through our 2020 Strategic Plan, Habitat for Humanity will serve more people than ever before through decent and affordable housing.
Habitat for Humanity and its affiliate organizations will not proselytize. Nor will Habitat work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with Habitat. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
There are so many big numbers you can use to talk about Habitat's work, but you really see the impact when you look at the small numbers: one family, one volunteer, one house - one at a time, lives are changed.
Hay tantas cifras grandes que se pueden utilizar para hablar de la labor de Hábitat, pero es en las ciflas pequeñas en las que se ve realmente el impacto: una familia, un voluntario, una casa - una a la vez, se cambian vidas.
